Add monsters, villagers and more to your world
Entities include all living things in Minecraft, and a few other things too. Boats, armor stands and minecarts are all considered entities too.
Syntax: /summon [entity type] X Y Z
Here is an example:
This video shows Coliseum of Death, an arena style map that lets the players become different types of warriors. One of the interesting parts of this map is the ability for one entity to summon another entity. In this case, the map uses a repeating command block and the /execute command so that snowballs summon lightning bolts when they are thrown. There are multiple other commands in the map, including entity effects, give and enchant. You can download the map here.
Note that some items cannot be summoned.
